Explanation (?):

The file replication service is used in maintaining syncronized directories on multiple servers in a domain. It does this simultaneously and replicates the system volume SYSVOL to all properly authenticated domain controllers. This service can also work in conjunction with the distributed file system (DFS) allowing files to be replicated to configured targets. If you do not wish to use this feature on your server it is best to uninstall it through the add/remove components dialog rather than disabling it. This service also greatly differs between NT4 and 2000+.
